Van Gogh in Pencil Exhibition Report from 21-09-2024 at 15:00
Between study breaks, I created the contents of this exhibition. Many works are the result of various attempts to get closer to Van Gogh's style. Let's say it was quite a long job! However, it served its purpose, helping me recover after intense periods of osteopathic study and regenerate my concentration to continue.
I still remember a user on Facebook who once wrote in a comment that reproducing Van Gogh in pencil was like seeing spring without flowers. Certainly true, but this sparked in me the desire to try! It was a nice experiment.
It is with pleasure that I rewrite this account of the beautiful afternoon spent talking about Van Gogh, with the exhibition of my pencil reinterpretations.
It was a great challenge to reproduce some works that I have always liked of this great artist of the second half of the 1800s! Each painting has something "inside" with which I identify, none excluded. With Van Gogh, I also find myself in some particularities, and one of them is long walks on foot... This, however, is just one among many that I discovered over time while working on it.
Exposing all my ideas about this great artist, drawings, and paintings, as well as being the author of letters (rich in philosophical insights that really make you think), was exciting, especially in light of the numerous audience present, very inclined towards art and all the facets present "behind" each work. Everyone was very knowledgeable about this topic, and especially about Van Gogh. The questions were varied, but even more so the conversation before and after the conference, which I found productive. Moments that gave me additional artistic knowledge that I will certainly use in some way later. I find that meetings of this type are always an opportunity for mutual exchange!
I have already set other dates on the theme "Van Gogh in pencil" that I can't wait to explore! Different people always create, each in their own way, intriguing ideas.
I always thank Angela Del Grosso who for years has given me the opportunity to share my passions with other people at the Spazio Culturale Piemontese in Saluzzo. A huge thank you also to all the participants!
