18-04-2024 - Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night over the Rhone in pencil
By now, it's been many years since I've been drawing in pencil, and often there are reinterpretations of the famous Vincent Van Gogh, particularly his starry nights... The research conducted on this topic is fascinating, using modern astronomy software to calculate the exact position of the stars, thus pinpointing the place and day of creation precisely!
There have been many reflections on this drawing, some of which were already expressed at the time of my first representation. However, the detail that haunts me the most among all thoughts is the couple walking along the Rhone riverbank in the bottom of the drawing... I wonder if those two people were aware of being portrayed in this landscape to become immortal thanks to the hand of a genius, who was certainly tucked away in a corner, giving free rein to his creativity with his candlelit hat on his head.
