Playful Prelude of Absence - 10/05/2024 - from a painting by Daniele Baron
I created this piece using a Commodore Amiga 500 with Blizzard
1230 and ACA500plus. The scene is not particularly complex but has a highly
suggestive final impact. The rendering on the real machine took just under 3
hours, with maximum antialiasing and a resolution of 1280x1024. I retrieved the
textures for the floor and background from the original painting. The sphere is
made of transparent 'glass' with a refraction index of 1.2. The sphere is
slightly rough but the reflection dominates, hiding the roughness. The
reflection on the sphere was created using a photo taken in a dark room in my
cabin, backlit by two windows, to replicate the reflection present in the
painting. CONTEXT: I met Daniele Baron during my exhibition on VAN GOGH IN
PENCIL only over the phone and then the following Saturday at his exhibition on
VAN GOGH. I carefully observed his exhibited paintings and one in particular
caught my attention. 'Playful Prelude of Absence' I associate it with a window
into a fantastic world that defies the laws of physics present in our reality,
as if we could observe a glimpse of another dimension... Even though it is a
painting, when it was hanging there, seen from a few meters away, it almost
looked like a digital artwork just like I'm presenting here! Truly a great work!
What you see here is a digital version, according to my reinterpretation, of
Daniele Baron's painting. All created with Lightwave 3D software on a real
Commodore Amiga.
